Food: A Love Story by Jim Gaffigan. If you're old enough to remember the Life cereal commercials with Mikey "who'll eat any thing" you'll appreciate Jim's homage to food & eating. WARNING!! Do not eat & drink while reading this book, you'll either choke to death or spew liquid from your nose & mouth - it's funny! Because Jim is a successful stand up comedian, he travels extensively & eats the same way. Descriptors are hilarious, as are imagined interactions between the "eatie" (Jim's term - he's not a foodie!) & whoever he's talking with. Some might consider the humor low brow, but then they're probably snobby & don't find much humor in anything. - Kathy

Expensive shoes & good gin; these are two of Reporter Alexandra James' favorite things. She also prefers investigating weighty, complex stories, not the insipid stuff that passes for news. While checking into the suicide of the POTUS' personal attorney's son, she finds herself enmeshed in a huge conspiracy that encompasses London, Pakistan & the White House. What she comes to learn is explosive! The 5 Ws of journalism get a workout in this nail biter of a tale. Can't wait for Ms. Kelly's next outing. --Kathy
The year is 1914 & Great Britain is hurtling towards WWI. Lady Elizabeth Neville-Ashford or simply, Lilly (like her brother Edward & his friend, Robbie) wants to do her part, her duty. After a falling out with her aristocrat parents, Lilly becomes an ambulance driver somewhere in France. Coming full circle, Lilly will have served her country honorably, affirmed her love for Robbie and reach an understanding with family. --Kathy
