Part mystery, part coming-of-age tale, with a large dose of German folklore and a couple of ultra-suspenseful scenes, this book is hard to classify but easy to enjoy!  The 11-year old narrator, Pia, is spunky, perceptive, and just plain fun to read about.  Plus, you'll feel like you're visiting small-town Bavaria - complete with requisite ghosts, of course!

I was a big fan of Fletcher's Dragon's Milk books as a kid, so I was pleased to see she'd return to them.  The books can be read in any order - this one is set in the near future, and it's full of adventure, close escapes, and one super-adorable baby dragon!  Flether is an Oregon author, and much of the story is set in Eugene, so Oregon readers will enjoy recognizing the locales.

Recently I had a free day, so I sat down with this book...and next thing I knew, it was evening, and I was on the last page!  Charles' Todd's mysteries are always great, and this start to a new series doesn't disappoint.  As always, the authors evoke an atmospheric World War I setting and keep you  guessing till the very end!

In this fascinating book, psychiatrist Dr. Small records his most unique and bizarre cases from 30 years of medical practice.  Each chapter reads almost like a mini-mystery, as Dr. Small observes truely strange symptoms, puts pieces together, and creates a diagnosis....and hopefully helps the affected person to recover.  This is definitely the sort of boo that anyone will find interesting!

A great sequel to last year's Incarceron! The life-and-death dangerous situation inside the Prison – and the political intrigue outside – are more volatile and unpredictable than ever, as Finn, Claudia, and their friends try to stay one step ahead of both. By the end, nothing – Inside or Outside – will ever be the same. You won't want to put this one down!

Holmes fans, rejoice! This collection of five novella-length stories preserves the feel of the original adventures of the famous detective. The stories are long enough to create suspense but short enough to read in one sitting. Great fun!

Guy Gavriel Kay is a top-notch author who will appeal to fans of both historical and fantastic fiction. When Shen Tai takes on the task of laying to rest the ghosts of his father's great military victory, he does so as a personal act of piety and remembrance. But in the politically complex and volatile society of Kitai, such an action will have far-reaching consequences, for Tai and for the nation. A unique, evocative portrait of ancient China with fantasy elements and beautiful writing.
