An enjoyable and interesting take on Snow White set in West  Virginia in the 1950s.  I really enjoyed the author's spin on the traditional story and her seamless blend of the real with the magical.  Plus, the wicked stepmother was terrifyingly creepy! Among all the fairy tale retellings coming out these days, this one is definitely a standout!

Another delightful addition to a great series!  Flavia is as clever and determined a sleuth as ever, and as the red herrings pile up, she's the only one observant enough to get to the bottom of things.  I don't know how Bradley manages to capture a precocious 11-year-old girl's narrative voice so completely, but he does -- and the results are wonderful fun!  Here's to many more volumes in this charming series.

They're also a powerful, nuanced portrait of war-haunted England as well as of one survivor struggling with his own personal demons.

This book is SO fantastic, but I can't explain why in detail without giving away the plot...which I don't want to do, because you HAVE to read it! So I'll simply say that it's about a group of time-travellers from 2060 Oxford who find themselves stuck in London during the Blitz. Fearing that they may have changed the course of history, Polly, Mike, and Eileen race against time – literally – to try to get out before it's too late. The book is about heroism, and chaos theory, and love, and sacrifice. The historical setting comes to vivid life, and the deeply satisfying ending packs a huge emotional punch. It's a must-read!
