The Shadows was my favorite children's novel in a good long while, and Spellbound is just as wonderful! Full of adventure, humor and whimsical charm (as well as three talking cats with very big personalities), this delightful book is a rare speciman: a children's novel that's just as fun for adults as it is for kids.

I love this author! Just like her first book, The Vanishing of Katharina Linden, the Glass Demon is the perfect suspense novel -- creepy, smart and utterly gripping. Grant creates a delicious sense of impending doom, drawing on German folklore for her tone (though not her story). And her writing is riveting! I dare you to put this one down once you've started reading it!

An enjoyable and interesting take on Snow White set in West Virginia in the 1950s. I really enjoyed the author's spin on the traditional story and her seamless blend of the real with the magical. Plus, the wicked stepmother was terrifyingly creepy! Among all the fairy tale retellings coming out these days, this one is definitely a standout!

This swashbuckling adventure is packed with non-stop awesome! Pirates, magic, creepy villains, peril on the high seas...yet far from cliche, the entire book is delightfully unique, a story only Tim Powers could invent. Exciting, funny, intense, and vividly cinematic, this novel is definitely a winner. Read it!
