Pfriem Brewing & Belgium Beer at Volcanic Bottle Shoppe
Ok, so I know we're not the best at updating our blog. So, we've decided not to be bound to our blog unless we have something interesting to talk about. Doesn't necessarily have to be book related, just something fun.
The tasting room for the brewery was described as a pub / wine tasting room (not sure what that means) with 12 beers on tap. They are still figuring out the food for the pub,
They are going to be a community focused brewery - promoting sustainability and working with others in the community.

So, tonight Muir and I went to Volcanic Bottle Shoppe up in the Heights for one of their beer styles classes. Tonight's class was on Belgium beers with Josh Pfriem of the new Pfriem Brewing (down at the Hood River waterfront).
I am not a big beer fan. Yes, I live in Beertown USA (Hood River has the most breweries per capita) and I don't like beer (I'm allergic to yeast - drinking beer makes me itch and turn red - don't worry I won't hyperventilate). But, tonight I discovered that I like Belgium beers. And, we learned a bit more about Pfriem Brewing.
Random fact: Muir used to work with Pfriem partners Ken and Rudy in Portland, where they were all engineers.
Josh shared a bit about the brewery tonight. They are breaking ground this week and hoping to be open by Memorial Day weekend. It's going to be a 15 barrel brewery with the focus on belgium style beers and some IPA-ish beers. (don't quote me on that number and description - I was definitely multi-tasking during the event - updating our website while listening)

Also, I highly recommend the events at Volcanic Bottle Shoppe. We always have a fun time at their events. We've partnered with them in the past to host beer author, Lisa Morrison, and are looking forward to doing more joint events with them.
