Ever wonder what being in a sorority is all about?  This is a fun, clean, realistic story of three freshmen trying to decide if the Greek system is for them.  The author accurately describes the formal recruitment process for joining a sorority.  I found myself connecting to the sister of Zeta Zeta Tau in the book.  There was something familiar about them...turns out the author is part of my college sorority!

Eight short stories (including a trilogy) by the author of "The Namesake" that are about relationships between family members, friends, and lovers.  The characters are Indian (Bengali) and American and must deal with emotionally complex issues of both cultures.  It is a great read - I usually don't like books with several short stories.  A few of the issues are similar to the issues I deal with as a result of growing up with two cultures.

Chen, a surgical doctor, discusses how doctors are trained to save lives, but lack the education and expertise for dealing with death and their patients' wishes for end-of-life care.  Chen uses her medical education and personal experiences as examples of how doctors deal with death.   Chen is working towards being a more kind and compassionate doctor, and is emotionally honest about her experiences with death in this book.  The book also provides a candid look at medical school and the day-to-day life at a teaching hospital.
