Eleanor of Aquitaine

This life story of Elanor of Aquitaine is fascinating. At a time (1100's) when women were essentially "given" to different kings and noblemen for political alliances and breeding purposes, Eleanor actually ruled her lands. She was a woman with power who ruled wisely and was very innovative. The movie "The Lion in Winter" depicted parts of Eleanor's life but this book gives the whole story from birth to death.
